1950
SMTS’s predecessor was Shanghai Auto Parts Factory (SAPF), mainly produced and supplied copper radiators for trucks, buses, engineering machines, agricultural machinery, etc,
1994
SAPF was incorporated into Shanghai Hezhong Auto Parts Company, renamed as Shanghai Hezhong Auto Parts Co., Ltd. SAPF supplied domestic OEMs like SAIC-VW. Note: SGM was established in 1997.
2002
Shanghai Hezhong Auto Parts Company was transformed into Shanghai Automobile Co., Ltd. Automotive Parts Factory.
2004
Shanghai Behr Thermal Systems Co., Ltd. was a joint venture between Shanghai Automobile Co., Ltd. and Behr GmbH & Co. KG. SBTS has developed from being a simple radiator supplier into a developer and manufacturer of automotive thermal systems products. In the same year, SBTS supplied HVAC and Cooling modules.
2005
SBTS moved into new plant. SBTS supplied Condenser.
2006
SBTS supplied Evaporator.
2007
SBTS exported products.
2011
Nanjing Plant was put in operation.
2012
Shenyang Behr Automotive Thermal Systems Co., Ltd. (YBTS) was registered, as a wholly-funded company by SBTS.
2013
The construction of YBTS plant was started. Chengdu Behr Automotive Thermal Systems Co., Ltd. (CBTS) was registered as a wholly-funded company by SBTS.
2014
YBTS SOP. The construction of CBTS new plant was started. Changsha plant, Ningbo plant and Changchun plant had business registration
2015

2017
The company name was changed from “Shanghai Behr Thermal Systems Co., Ltd.” to “Shanghai MAHLE Thermal Systems Co., Ltd.”.
2019
Ningde MAHLE Automotive Thermal Systems Co., Ltd. was registered as a wholly-funded company by SMTS.
